Jennifer Vranes is best known for her large and vibrant paintings of Aspen Forests and European Landscapes. Her trademarked technique using a palette knife to ‘sculpt’ in thick textures has become a favorite among collectors and Art Galleries world-wide.
The art industry’s leading magazine, Art Business News, spotlighted Vranes in the article “Time Honored Appeal,” as one of the world’s top selling landscape artists. Art Business News later published a special edition on Today’s Top Artists, and included an editorial marking Vranes as America’s “Artist to Watch.”
Vranes’ unique paintings continue to gain attention on an international level. Her artwork was recently secured by the U.S. State Department to be placed in the “ART in Embassies” collection in Bamako, Mali. This exclusive program is a vital form of cultural diplomacy for United States Embassies, and State Department curators selected the paintings of Jennifer Vranes to represent the talent of the United States of America to dignitaries of all countries.
Vranes studied oil painting at Brigham Young University, graduating with a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree. An avid traveler, Vranes finds inspiration from the beautiful places she has seen around the world. Through her art, she transports the viewer to Tuscany where poppies grow wildly in breathtaking meadows; or to France where fragrant Lavender is farmed in lush rows; or to the Rocky Mountains where groves of Aspens quake near rolling streams and rivers. Vranes finds the most beautiful gems of nature, and captures them on canvas for all to experience and enjoy.
When asked about her successful Art career, Vranes says simply, “I paint to bring joy to the lives and homes of others. In a world of growing uncertainty, I want my paintings to provide the viewer a momentary escape from reality. My landscapes carry that magic!”
The greatest compliment I ever received was from one of my Art Collectors. I will never forget what he said about my work, "Your paintings make me happy. I can look at them over and over again, and feel uplifted." His compliment embodies my goal for creating Art. There is nothing more I want in this world than to bring joy to people through my work.
My inspiration comes from places I have fallen in love with from all over the world. Each painting I create is a reflection of where I long to be. In a world of growing uncertainty, it is important for me to provide the viewer a momentary escape from reality. In my work, I strive to incorporate the rare diamonds I see in nature and bottle them up for the whole world to stop and take notice.
The miracles of this world will never cease to amaze me. If I pick a poppy and experience its beauty, I can sense an essence so vast that it opens up a universe to me. I paint with colors and textures that seem to me just as beautiful as a poppy. The vibrant reds, cool blues, lush greens, and brilliant yellows, found most dominantly in my work, reflect an intense energy that is both positive and uplifting.
In essence, Art should rejuvenate the soul. It should uplift the heart and bring peace to the mind. This world is a beautiful place and it is my goal to bring to light the utopias I find most precious for the enjoyment of others.
Inspired by the bas-relief sculptures of the ancient Romans, artist Jennifer Vranes developed a technique that involves painting with extreme textures. Unlike an ordinary palette knife painting, Vranes loads on the texture just where nature intended. The sky and distant mountains, for instance, remain flat and smooth; contrasting dramatically with the highly textured fields, bushes and trees in the foreground. This juxtaposition of texture versus smooth in just the right places gives her paintings their distinct and unmistakable 3-dimensional quality. Vranes literally "sculpts" on the thick texture with many large palette knives. The trunks of the Aspens actually feel like bark to the touch, and the petals of the wild poppies can almost be picked!
This unique painting style gives the work of Jennifer Vranes a very tactile and organic quality. There is nothing quite like it currently available on the art market today!
